Gary concentrates his practice in residential and commercial real estate transactions, and other sophisticated asset based transactions, development, land use and planning, zoning and related litigation. His expertise includes complex real estate issues and title matters. He appears in all courts in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island for clients involved in real estate litigation. Gary represents lenders in both residential and commercial loan transactions.
Gary has considerable experience in the bankruptcy field. He represents lenders in collection, foreclosure, bankruptcy and workout matters. He regularly appears in Bankruptcy Court in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts on behalf of his clients. Gary also has considerable experience representing debtors in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 cases. As a State Legislator, Gary was the prime drafter and sponsor of legislation that amended the Rhode Island Homestead Statute as well as modifications to the exemption statute.
Additionally, Gary has considerable experience representing developers and others before municipal zoning and planning boards and city/town councils. Gary has successfully argued in front to the Rhode Island Supreme Court. During his time as a State Legislator, he played a key role in several important amendments to zoning and planning law.
In 2006, Gary successfully permitted two “over 55” developments, a 15 lot residential subdivision and a 14 lot residential subdivision. He also negotiated the sale of a multi-use development project in excess of $7m.
Gary resides in Smithfield, RI with his wife Mary. Their two children are in college. He enjoys watching soccer, and baseball, golf and the beach.
